Mechanical vs Physical?

Not finding your golf swing improving through practice and instruction, take a moment …… see if it is .. Mechanical vs. Physical

What the majority are doing, see the direction they are traveling, now, quickly turn around and go the other direction. Meaning the majority is not always right. There is a lot of trouble out there on how the golf swing is being taught and it is not my intention to break down barriers. I just believe in the message that I have in teaching things, and how they bring results. So the question I ask is today. Is the golf swing Mechanical or physical?.

The 5 mechanical fundamentals are:

  1. Grip
  2. Alignment
  3. Posture
  4. Stance
  5. Ball Position

After that is the golf swing, mechanical or physical?

For example: In the TPI assessment we assess the external rotation of the shoulders. Normal rotation should begin at 90 degrees and in a perfect world, rotate to 110 degrees. If you have limited shoulder mobility, some mechanical swing faults could follow?

If you have been told, your club crosses the line, you have the flying elbow, or broken left arm at the top of the back swing, is this really a mechanical issue? The coaching cues could be to hold the pizza, catch the rain, hold the tray? Do you know why? The trail arm on the backswing needs to rotate (fold vs. bend) around 15-20 degrees, if there is a physical issue, the arm will then compensate by bending causing the club to cross, elbow to fly and lead arm bent. This might frustrate you because it seems so simple and obvious But you will see it makes so much sence, and so obvious

When you understand how the trail arm rotates vs bends will you really understand why the club crosses the line, or have the flying elbow, or broken left arm. If you are one of many golfers who are not finding their golf swing improving through practice and instruction, take a moment and look at the body swinging the golf club. This very well may be the real cause of your mechanical swing problems.
